You'll find it just before Halloween in your local park! But be careful what you look for; you may find it!

Ghost Stories In the Park... In the Dark

For Our Storytellers

Auditions

Auditions are held both by invitation and open audition. If you are a veteran ghost storyteller or a storyteller interested in performing with us, please contact us at ghoststories@summerplacetheatre.org and provide a sample of your work, preferably an online video of a performance. If you have a knack for telling a spooking tale and would like to try out, try out! Auditions will be held August 27 from 1:00p until 4:00p at the Rubin Riverwalk Community Center in Naperville. Prepare a ghost story of 1-3 minutes and be ready to scare us or make us laugh.

Rehearsals

We will rehearse our show two or three times the week before the first performance. Exact dates will be posted here closer to the event date. Since mostly our show is a string of tales, these will be the only rehearsals that our tellers will need. If we perform anything involving several of our tellers then those tellers will arrange additional times to be worked out among them to be prepared for our main rehearsals.

Performances

See the list of performances on this page.  We create 2 shows - a PG and a PG-13 show - from the stories our tellers tell. As a teller, you'll need to be at all performances. (It's rare that a performer is in one but not the other of the shows.) You'll need to be at the Pavilion an hour prior to the 1st show to help in setup (some decorations, lighting, sound check).

Chills, Thrills, and Hopefully No Spills!

After we have our Chills and Thrills - our fun, scary stories - everybody is invited to have a cup of hot apple cider, a cup of ectoplasm punch (orange drink), and some cookies.

The treats are brought to us, thanks to our friends at the Meijer store on Route 59 and Jefferson.
