Our "Spelling Bee" Features Awesome Guest Spellers!

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a musical but it also has elements of improv. Before the show begins, two actors ask folks to sign up to be in the spelling bee. There's an application form where potential competitors can talk a little about themselves. Look for the table in the lobby and you might be chosen to go onstage with our actors!

We have also asked a few local celebrities to be guest spellers. On opening night, June 16, Nicki Anderson, who is the president and CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, will be our guest. Nicki has a little theatre experience, but she says it's been ages since she was in a show. Still, she regularly speaks at chamber events, so we know she's comfortable in front of a crowd and we look forward to seeing her in the spotlight.

On Saturday, June 17, we welcome Nicole Comis, the sponsorship manager of Naperville's Ribfest, to the show. As a life coach, Nicole is all about encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones and she'll be practicing what she preaches when she's called up to take part in our "Spelling Bee."

The last show, the matinee on Sunday, June 25, will feature two guest spellers:  Scott Mackay and Danielle Tufan from 95.9 The River radio station. If you've ever heard them on the radio or if you have seen them at events, you know they have no problem getting in front of an audience. Guest spellers are not expected to be improv artists themselves, but it helps to have a great attitude for the actors to work with and we're sure that Scott and Danielle will have loads of fun.

Whichever night you come to see the show, you're going to enjoy the improvisation part as well as the rest of the show. You'll laugh, you'll cry -- well, there are some touching moments, but you'll mostly laugh. Two weekends only so get your tickets now!
