The "Some Like it Hot" Musical

Book by Peter Stone
Based on the Screenplay “Some Like It Hot” by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond
Based on a Story by Robert Thoeren
Music by Jule Styne      Lyrics by Bob Merrill
Produced for the Broadway Stage by David Merrick
Directed and Choreographed for the Broadway Stage by Gower Champion

Summer Place Theatre presents Sugar, the musical version of the classic movie Some Like It Hot. Book by Peter Stone, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill.

If you haven't seen the movie in a while, here's the scoop: Joe and Jerry are unfortunate witnesses of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago. To escape gangster Spats Palazzo, they hitch a ride to Florida disguised as members of a band--a female band. They seem to be in the clear, except Joe (or "Josephine") starts to fall for the band's lead singer Sugar Kane. Add to that a wealthy older gentleman who wants to whisk Jerry ("Daphne") away, and you've got a comedy that has delighted audiences for decades. The 1973 Tony Award-winning musical features tunes like "Penniless Bums," "Beautiful Through and Through," and, of course, "Sugar"!

Show Dates and Times:

June 29 through July 15, 2018. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30; Sundays at 3:00, dark the weekend of July 6 due to Ribfest. All summer shows performed in the Naperville Central High School Auditorium, ONLY ONE DOOR, DOOR 24, on the far west side of the campus. Plenty of free parking. Look for the bright yellow signs.
