Ghost Story Workshop
Maybe You'll Be Our Next Story Teller in October
Ever wanted to learn how to tell a ghost story?
Don Gingold, Producer, Director and "Ghost Host" of Ghost Stories in the Park... In the Dark! can teach you how, at a workshop in August. And who knows? You might even tell your story to an audience in October!
Summer Place has been performing our Ghost Stories show in October for the past 30 years. It always starts the first Friday in October and lasts all weekend, kicking off the Halloween season. It's held under the cover of the Grand Pavillion along the riverwalk west of Centennial Beach. Storytelllers step up to the microphone in front of a live audience and tell their spooky tales.
You too can be one of the dozen story tellers. We have a mix of professionals and amatuers of all ages. If you've ever wanted to do it, here's your chance.
We meet at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson in Naperville, on Saturday, August 20, from 1pm until 3pm.
During that time, Don will cover several topics: proper story preparation, speaking, breathing, gesturing, and microphone techniques.
There's nothing to prepare, although if you have a story ready to tell, we can work it with the class and you'll be that much further ahead. You might want to bring some paper and a pen to take notes. We'll have a few handouts to take home.
Those graduating from the class might be invited to perform their story in October!
Click the registration button to sign up for the class. Space is limited to 15 students. The workshop is free!
