Wait, do we mean Rotary Hill? I think that's the only hill in Naperville. Actually, we mean the perennial favorite Broadway Musical that premiered November 15, 1959. It's on its way back to Naperville and will arrive in July of 2022. We'll be back in the Naperville High School Auditorium, our pre-COVID home since 1991. The pandemic is making long-term commitments difficult, so we're planning an outdoor performance option as a backup. Either way, the show will go on. Tickets are on sale. If you long for live theatre, grab your ticket now. And remember, they make for great Mother's Day gifts, too. Buy Tickets Summer Place will tell you the tale of young novice Maria, called upon by her Mother Abbess to care for the children of the widowed Captain Georg von Trapp. She falls in love with the children while the Captain falls in love with her. But it's not only a love story; our play is set in Austria in the early days of World War II during the German occupation, and Nazis exert an ever increasing hold on the life of the von Trapp family, to the point of their plan to escape. It makes for a warm and compelling tale, and we can't wait to bring it to our stage. It takes a community to put on such a big theatre production. We have key positions in our production team but need a few more, and so if you are excited as we are to help produce this show, contact us now with your interest and your previous experience in design or direction of live performances.
