South Pacific Spotlight: Laura Miller is taking on the iconic role of Bloody Mary for the second time in her career
Laura Miller is making a habit of performing in South Pacific. Though making her debut with Summer Place Theatre, Laura has done the show twice before, and is taking on the iconic role of Bloody Mary for the second time. This time, she joins a talented and diverse cast to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this great American musical theater classic.
Laura shared her early theater influences, some of her career highlights and goals, and her thoughts on being in this production.

QUESTION: Who or what inspired you to start doing theater?
LAURA MILLER: I got my inspiration from my mom, she introduced me to the arts, started taking me to and I was young kid.
Q: What was the musical that had you fall in love with musicals?
LM: I first saw Sound of Music on the big screen, and that got me hooked onto musicals.
Q: What is the favorite role(s) you've ever played?
LM: My favorite role is Bloody Mary from South Pacific.
Q: What is the dream role you still want to play?
LM: The dream role I still want to play is Golde from Fiddler on the Roof.
Q: What is the most challenging part about brining South Pacific to life?
LM: The most challenging part of putting the show on, is putting our own take onto the show while still staying true to the story.
Q: Do you have any performance superstitions?
LM: My superstition is take a walk through the theater and sit in the last row for a few minutes before the audience enters, and reflect on the show to be done.
Q: If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would you want to play you?
LM: I would like Reba McEntire to play my part.
Q: What do you do when you’re not doing theater?
LM: When I'm not doing theater I enjoy going to Garage sales, craft fairs, and resale stores .
Q: Which character from South Pacific would you most like to have dinner with and why?
LM: The character from South Pacific I would most like to have dinner with would be Billis. The character is a lot of fun and funny, and I would like to see the other side of the Billis.
Q: Why should people come see this production of South Pacific?
LM: People should come to see this production of South Pacific because it's downright entertaining! You will laugh! You may cry! Everyone in the show has really brought life to their own character in ways you may not have seen before. I promise you won't be disappointed
