We asked Mike a few questions about his background and interest in this show.
Q. Who or what inspired you to start doing theater?
A. I must give credit to my grandmother who had been taking me to shows at the Goodman and Steppenwolf for as long as I can remember.
Q. First show
A. A Christmas Carol
Q. What is the favorite role you've ever played?
A. Beethoven - Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead
Q. What is the dream role you still want to play?
A. Austin - True West
Q. Most challenging part of bringing this story to life?
A. This is a zippy, fast paced comedy with a lot of moving parts. I think the challenge will be balancing high energy with carefully plotted storytelling.
Q. Do you have any performance superstitions?
A. I have to do a shakeout before every performance. It's hard to explain, but if you hear me shouting a countdown backstage it means I'm about to make my entrance.
Q. If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would you want to play you?
A Philip Seymour Hoffman
Q. What do you do when you’re not doing theater?
A. I like to travel when I can find the time. I recently took a trip to Playa del Carmen to escape the brutal Chicago winter for fun in the sun.
Q. Which character from My Three Angels would most like to have dinner with and why?
A. Felix because he is kind and funny and would probably pick up the check.
Q. Why should people come see this production of My Three Angels?
A. To laugh! We've got a great cast and crew and we're excited to put on a show for you.
Mike looks forward to performing for you in My Three Angels. Tickets are on sale now for our 3 performances of this funny comedy, opening June 28.
