Naperville Venue Sought for Summer Community Theater Productions
Summer Place Theater looking for available space for 3 shows in 2019
NAPERVILLE, IL - Summer Place Theater in Naperville is looking for venue options to house three productions in the summer of 2019. The home for the local community theater for over 20 years, Naperville Central High School, is undergoing auditorium renovations this summer and will be unavailable. Summer Place’s 53rd season will consist of two musicals and a straight comedic play.
Venue(s) should be available during six weekends throughout the summer, from the end of May to the first weekend in August. One of the musicals will run three weekends, the other musical will run two weekends. The third show will run one weekend.
- First Musical: June 7-9, 14-16
- Comedy: June 28-30
- Second Musical: July 19-21, July 26-28, August 2-4
Summer Place Theatre was founded in 1966 by Donald "Doc" Shanower, then Dean of Theatre at North Central College in Naperville, as a way to keep his students active and their acting skills sharp over the summer. Over the years, the community theater has produced hundreds of musicals, dramas, and comedies, using a variety of venue types within the Naperville city limits.
While any available venue rental offers would be considered, the ideal venue would be available to house all three shows at one facility in a theater setting that consists of:
- Standard proscenium stage
- Backdrop fly-in capabilities
- Orchestra pit
- Dressing and makeup rooms
- House capability of 300
However, any combination of potential available venues would be considered for all or part of the 2019 summer productions.
If you have access to a venue or know of a contact at a venue with summer availability, please contact info@summerplacetheater.org or fill out the information form located on this page and a Summer Place Theater representative will respond shortly.
