She has performed in Brighton Beach Memoirs, Inherit the Wind and Big River. She is excited to perform with her parents Roger and Sharon Place, and her sister Jennifer. Ben Gray (Jack) debuts with Summer Place after several years of performing at St. Francis High School. In the fall he will study music at Millikin University and hopes to teach high school. He sends thanks and love to the cast and crew and family and friends. Cynthia Lauren-Grant (Cinderella's Mother/Granny/Giant) teaches music in Naperville schools and began with Summer Place playing Peter in Peter Pan. She has worked with Tempo Players and was last seen in Oliver with Magical Starlight. Nancy Kolton (Witch) has worked in various forms of theatre for many years. She is grateful for the opportunity to once again be a part of the magic we call theatre. References upon request. KT Lindsay (Little Red Riding Hood) is enjoying her first production with the Summer Place and is overjoyed to work with such a talented cast. She is no stranger to the stage, though, and hopes to continue acting for the rest of her days. Jennifer Manderscheid (Lucinda) served on Board as treasurer at Summer Place and has performed onstage as well as been assistant director for Big River and Music Man. She dedicates her performance to sons Derek and Declan. Love and thanks to Mark! Kim Mason (Baker's Wife) played Nancy Ralansky in Summer Place's Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? and the baker's wife with the Tempo Players in 1991. Now a little wiser, (and a lot older!) she enjoyed learning the role through new eyes. Zachary Miller (Rapunzel's Prince) now has a dozen productions under his belt with his debut at Summer Place. He has appeared with Fox Valley Youth Theatre and Kaneland High School. Paul Mullen (Baker) returns to Summer Place for his sixth musical. Favorite roles include Georg in She Loves Me and Willy Wonka in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory with Magical Starlight. He is a clinical psychologist and teaches at North Central College, Naperville. Roger Place (Narrator/Mysterious Man) is excited to be onstage with Sharon and daughters Jennifer and Susan. At Summer Place, he has served on the Board, performed onstage and directed numerous plays and musicals. He has a consulting company, Training Places. Sharon Place (Cinderella's Stepmother) was seen recently at Summer Place in the title role of Mame last year. She has performed at Candlelight, Drury Lane South and Pheasant Run Dinner Theatres and is thrilled to be onstage with husband Roger and Jen and Susan. Gretchen Wood Schuttler (Cinderella) makes her Summer Place debut in Into the Woods. Past roles include Amalia in She Loves Me, Fiona in Brigadoon and Abigail in The Crucible. There are times when she actually enjoys cleaning! Laura Ward (Rapunzel) began performing when she was 7 years old. Major roles include Maria in The Sound of Music and Joanne in Godspell. She has also performed with the Missoula Children's Theater and in many hometown productions. Chris Weiss (Jack's Mother) is a third grade teacher who has performed in over thirty productions as a lifetime hobby! This is her 5th Summer Place show and she is thrilled to be on stage with such a talented cast and crew. Love to Amber and Gabe! Matt Whalen (Steward) first performed in Heidi at Summer Place. Other roles include Joe in Damn Yankees, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors and the Captain in The Sound of Music. He thanks Only a Stage. Steve Zeidler (Cinderella's Father) just finished playing Samuel Chase in Summer Place's first production of the season, 1776. He is a Summer Place "regular," best remembered for his work as Daddy Warbucks in Annie and Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. Production Staff Profiles Kevin Long (Director) has worked professionally in various equity and summer stock theatres in the east and midwest. He holds a B.F.A. degree in acting from West Virginia University and an M.A. degree in Speech and Performing Arts from Northeastern Illinois University. He has 14 years experience as an acting teacher and director in various theatres, colleges and universities and is currently on faculty at Quest Academy and teaches and directs on an adjunct basis at National-Louis University and Northeastern Illinois University. Kevin wishes to thank his wife Gena and his son Adam for all of their love and support and to Durward Redd for the use of "the files." Ted Waltmire (Musical Director) previously served as musical director for Summer Place productions of "...Forum", Man of La Mancha, The Music Man, and A Little Night Music. He has performed with Summer Place in Damn Yankees, and has worked with Magical Starlight and Elmhurst College Theaters on such shows as The Wizard of Oz, Baby, and Assassins. By day Ted hangs out at the Downers Grove Public Library as the Technology Coordinator. An avid Sondheim fan, he is thrilled to share this experience with his wife, Michelle (playing flute) and niece, Laura. (Rapunzel). Ken Frykholm (Scenic Designer/Associate Technical Director) teaches English and theatre at Lockport Township High School, where he is also the scenic designer, technical director and auditorium manager. He holds a B.S. of Education in Art and a M.F.A. in scenic design. This is his 14th season doing set design for Summer Place Theater. When not designing, he spends time with wife Mandy and daughters Autumn G. and Mariah, 20 months. Amy S. Jessup (Scenic Designer) joins Summer Place for her first season. She holds a B.A. in theatre technology and design from the University of West Florida, and recently served as prop master for the New American Theatre in Rockford. She has also worked with the Heritage Repertory in Virginia, Pensacola Little Theatre and the Aspen Opera. William J. Tilford (Sound & Light Design) is an award winning designer from northwest Florida where he designed The Who's Tommy, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Annie Get Your Gun. William's most recent designs include Corpse and Tuna Christmas at New American Theater in Rockford. Timothy Ray (Producer/Stage Manager) is a veteran stage manager at Summer Place Theatre. His most recent productions include Sound of Music, Annie, Grease, and Magical Starlight's Wizard of Oz, and Oliver. Into the Woods marks the first production that Tim has taken on the role of Producer. This season is Tim's tenth with Summer Place Theatre and he is extremely proud that it is with such a fine production as Into the Woods. He is extremely grateful for the work of the entire cast, the production staff, his exceptional crew, and most especially Kevin and Ted for their relentless devotion to making this production one that you will not soon forget. Karen Dix (Producer) serves on the Summer Place Board but is usually found onstage, most recently as Nancy in Oliver with Magical Starlight and in Summer Place's production of Mame. Her first time producing was a good experience thanks to Tim and the staff! Thanks! Corrie Graham (Producer) is a first-time producer but currently serves as Secretary on the Summer Place Board.
