Meet John Colombo

Mamma Mia! Spotlight

John ("Jack" to his friends) is working with Summer Place Theatre for the first time this year, playing Pepper in our production of Mamma Mia! He spends his time studying Theatre Teacher Education at Illinois State, while also acting as frequently as he can.

We asked John a few questions about himself.

Q: Who or what inspired you to start doing theater?

A: My cousin Catherine inspired me to act after I saw her perform as Peter Pan.

Q: What was the musical that had you fall in love with musicals?

A: Beauty and the Beast

Q: What is the favorite role you've ever played?

A: Judas in Godspell

Q: What is the dream role you still want to play?

A: Javert in Les Miserables

Q: Do you have any performance superstitions?

A: I get VERY superstitious about the Scottish Play...

Q: If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would you want to play you?

A: Maculay Culkin

Q: What do you do when you’re not doing theater?

A: Playing Super Smash Brothers, doing even more theatre, creating videos for Bool Group on TikTok.

Q: If you were stranded on an island, which character from Mamma Mia would you want to have with you and why?

A: Probably Pepper, he seems like he’d know how to have a great time.

Q: Why should people come see this production of Mamma Mia?

A: There’s a very high level of talent here that the people of the Naperville community and beyond MUST experience.
