We asked Maddie a few questions about herself.
Q: Who or what inspired you to start doing theater?
A: I’ve always loved singing and dancing and putting those things together was heaven for me.
Q: What was the musical that had you fall in love with musicals?
A: I would always watch Hairspray every day after school, I looked up to Tracy Turnblad because she fought for what was right. (I loved her hair too when I was younger!)
Q: What is the favorite role you've ever played?
A: I loved playing Jane banks in Mary Poppins; it was one of my first lead roles and I loved Mary Poppins, so being in it was amazing.
Q: What is the dream role you still want to play?
A: I’d love to be Anya from Anastasia. I love the music and the story and it’s something I’d love to have the opportunity to do.
Q: Most challenging part of bringing this story to life?
A: Conveying such a tight knit group of people on this island who want to help this girl succeed and find her family is something I’d love to keep working on with the cast.
Q: Do you have any performance superstitions?
A: I just try to follow the same routine every night just so I know I haven’t forgotten about anything before I go on stage.
Q: If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would you want to play you?
A: I think I’d love to have Elsie Fisher from the movie 8th Grade play me, she’s super funny and I love her acting and personality.
Q: What do you do when you’re not doing theater?
A: I’m either working or practicing choreography for theater, I can’t escape it!
Q: If you were stranded on an island, which character from Mamma Mia would you want to have with you and why?
A: I think I would want to be stranded with any of the dads because I feel like they could get us off the island with their dad power.
Q: Why should people come see this production of Mamma Mia?
A: It’s super awesome and fun to do and it’ll be even better to watch, it’s got a great story and some really cool people telling it.
