Sugar Cast Looking Great - Just a few more to go!
Looking to fill the roles of Joe, Spats the tapping gangster and a few more chorus members
Thanks to all who auditioned for "Sugar" - the "Some Like it Hot" musical. We're excited about the talented people who we've met, and we're almost ready to announce their names. But first, there's just a few more roles to fill. If you missed auditions, you get a second chance!!
The Summer Place, Naperville's Community Theatre, is doing "Sugar" opening June 29 for 3 weekend shows, skipping a weekend over the 4th, and doing another 3 shows starting July 13.
Do you know this musical? Most everybody has seen the Billy Wilder-directed movie "Some Like it Hot" starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe. The American Film Institute calls it the #1 Comedy OF ALL TIME! Monroe's character is named Sugar Cane, and so when they created a musical version, they called it "Sugar."
This is your chance - again - to be in a very funny production. Like my yiddish grandmother would say: "Oh, so NOW you listen!" :-)
We are still looking for:
Joe - the Tony Curtis character. He's a saxophonist who, with his buddy Jerry, witness the St Valentine's Day Massacre and run away, by hiding in an all-women's band.
Spats, the tapping ganster. A great comedic role. You'll need to tap-dance. Our choreographer, Samantha is a fabulous teacher so if you have reasonable dancing skills or if you're Fred Astaire, we want to see you.
MEN. Hey, thugs, we need you! Spats needs minions as well as dancing backup. We'll teach you. C'mon, it's fun!
LADIES, we have a wonderful ensemble of band-members already, but a few more chorus extras will really round out the cast.
Here's what you do: email sugar@summerplacetheatre.org - tell us what you'd like to try out for, and we'll make arrangements with you. Easy-Peasy!
