Naperville’s Community Theatre is proud to announce the first production of the 1997 summer season, the musical “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” book by Burt Shevelove & Larry Gelbart with music ands lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Production dates are Fridays & Saturdays June 20, 21, 27 & 28 at 8pm and Sundays, 22 & 29 at 2pm. Performances will be at the NCHS auditorium on the Southeast corner of Aurora Ave & West St in Naperville. General admission tickets are $12 for adults & $10 for seniors & students. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the box office at 630/355-7969. Pseudlous (Chris Bruzzini of Melrose Park), of roguish slave to a Roman family, schemes to become free. His young master, Hero (Joseph Svejda of Naperville), promises freedom if Pseudolus can obtain a beautiful girl, Phila (Lindsay Baldwin of Naperville), whom Hero has seen from his bedroom window. Deliciously unsavory characters, a befuddled father with a shrewish wife, neighbors, strangers and the Roman army are all drawn into the mounting confusion as this side-splitting comedy unwinds. Memorable songs from this production are “Pretty Little Picture” and “Comedy Tonight.” The remaining cast members include Megan Anderson of Clarendon Hills, Erica Baker of Downers Grove, Taryn Blight of Lombard, Parvesch Singh Cheena & Lisa Perkins of Aurora, Ben Dixon of Burr Ridge, Dave Zahalka of Warrenville & Steve Zeidler of Lombard. Also, cast members from Naperville are Amy Choate, Brad Ciummings, Graham Kostic, Andy Lambertson, Danny Sams and Aveline Valvano.
