An evening of new one-act musicals presented by The Summer Place, Inc. Event date: 2/18/2017 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Export event New this year, Summer Place is presenting eight one-act musicals and a self-contained segment of a larger work for an evening of "10-Minute Musicals"! The one-act play is a favorite of high school thespians for its economic storytelling, minimal costume and set, and overall simplicity. Our production takes this genre one step further by adding song! The writers of these 9 stories are challenged with creating a world in only one act and illuminating their world with succinct musical numbers sure to delight our audiences. Auditions for "10-Minute Musicals" will take place Saturday, February 18, from 11am to 3pm in the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center at 305 Jackson Ave in Naperville. Auditions are open to the public, and auditionees will be seen in the order they arrive. Please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a musical theatre piece that shows you to your best advantage. You will be asked to read an excerpt from one of the scripts, and you should be prepared to learn a short musical excerpt from one as well. We are seeking 5 men and 5 women at minimum to fill all the roles, but we will cast as many actors as we can! The commitment will be minimal, with only a few rehearsals for each play plus tech week rehearsals. Actors will be expected to memorize their lines quickly and practice their music independently after an initial music rehearsal. "10-Minute Musicals" runs for one weekend only March 31 at 7:30pm, April 1 at 2pm and 7:30pm, and April 2 at 2pm. Print 1535 < Return to List of Past Shows
