The play is an episodic presentation of the years Abraham Lincoln lived in New Salem, IL. Performances will be August 22-25 and August 29-September 1, and were scheduled to coordinate with area Sesquicentennial celebrations. Assuming the lead role of Abraham Lincoln will be Robert Weaver of Downers Grove. Weaver, a political science major at North Central College, has been active backstage at The Summer Place, as well as appearing in the YPT production of "Rebel Without A Cause." Abe's New Salem sweetheart, Ann Rutledge, will be portrayed by Sally Emberson of Naperville. Also a veteran of The Summer Place stage, Sally is a 1968 graduate of Naperville Community High School and will begin her study this fall for a career in nursing.
