Lincoln's Years in New Salem Will Be Portrayed On Stage

Dr. Donald Shanower, managing director of The Summer Place, has announced the cast members of "Prologue to Glory," the final production of the 1968 season. The play is an episodic presentation of the years Abraham Lincoln lived in New Salem, IL. Performances will be August 22-25 and August 29-September 1, and were scheduled to coordinate with area Sesquicentennial celebrations.

Assuming the lead role of Abraham Lincoln will be Robert Weaver of Downers Grove. Weaver, a political science major at North Central College, has been active backstage at The Summer Place, as well as appearing in the YPT production of "Rebel Without A Cause."

Abe's New Salem sweetheart, Ann Rutledge, will be portrayed by Sally Emberson of Naperville. Also a veteran of The Summer Place stage, Sally is a 1968 graduate of Naperville Community High School and will begin her study this fall for a career in nursing.

Other actors in the large troupe are Naperville residents George Spelvin, Allen Pierce, Vince Ory, Pat Shanower, Mark Rickel, Donald Jamison, Rich Oman, Robert Pederson, Carey Erickson, John Sheaffer, Mark Christoffersen, David Ernst, Joy Ransdell, Doris Miller, Tom Burger, Joseph Agne, Paul Polarek, Stevie Pierce and Lynne Kiser
