Young People's Theatre to Close Season With Sandburg

The Summer Place Theatre will close its season with "The World of Carl Sandburg", a stage presentation of many writings by the Illinois-born author. The performances will be August 19 and 20, and 26 and 27, and at 7:30 each evening.

Members of the cast from Naperville are Cindy Ianno, Kathee Todoroff, Sue Peterson, Judy Metskas, and Rich Oman. The Director is John Sheaffer of Sterling, a 1968 graduate of North Central College.

"A baby is God's opinion that life should go on" - starting with this thought, "The World of Carl Sandburg" related the poet's musings on such universal subjects as love, joy, actors, audiences, war, death and many others. Closing the show is a selection from Sandburg's biography of Abraham Lincoln.

In addition to the writings of Sandburg, the production includes a collection of American folk tunes, gleaned from Sandburg's "The American Songbag." In the performances, "the Feudin' five," a local folk group, will sing familiar selections. "The Feudin' FIve" are Naperville high school students Carla Brand, Anne Buckhouse, Sara Berger, Mike Harkins and Mike Hayes.
