Announcing the cast of Summer Lovin', premiering June 18

Enjoy summertime showtunes at our first live musical since March 2020

After the year we've had, we could use some good news. Well, here it is: Summer Place Theatre is BACK, and we're thrilled to announce the cast of our first show of the 2021 season! Summer Lovin' is an original musical revue conceived and directed by Emma Gingold and Jeff Sand, with music direction by Rex Meyer. The 21-person cast and the live band are made up of the finest musicians in the Chicago area, and they can't wait to perform live outdoors this June.

When we closed our last live musical in early March of 2020, we were still optimistically preparing for our summer lineup. One by one, those shows were cancelled--along with other live theatre events all over the country. Finally, over a year later, Summer Place Theatre is returning to the stage with a cabaret-style concert that celebrates our favorite season: Summer!

Audiences can look forward to hearing old classics like "Too Darn Hot" from Kiss Me, Kate, modern hits like "Another Day of Sun" from La La Land, and other musical theatre tunes about baseball, ice cream, vacations, and hot weather. We'll soak up the sun at this outdoor event, which will in some ways be a return to our roots. Our longtime patrons may remember when Summer Place Theatre performed in a tent 50 years ago!

Summer Lovin' will be performed live outdoors at the Wagner Family Pavilion in Frontier Park in Naperville on June 18, 19, and 20 at 7pm. Tickets will be on sale soon, so stay tuned! Lawn seating may be limited, and you won't want to miss this show. In the meantime, though, please join us in welcoming the cast and band of Summer Lovin'!
