The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic has some of the best loved songs in the world. You've sung them sometime in your life; who hasn't? Now you have a chance to sing it again at an invitation-only, red carpet gala at the Hollywood Palms.

Our own Summer Place member, Ted Waltmire, playwright, musician, and actor, will be discussing the original 1959 stage musical, “The Sound of Music," at Nichols Library on Monday, May 23, starting at 7:00pm.

We had such a wonderful time premiering our first performance, "Songs of Hope," that we're doing it again!

The 3rd act of our 3-act season celebrating the strength of the human spirit through difficult times. Nun-in-training Maria becomes the governess for the seven von Trapp children, who refused to be brought in line until Maria worked her musical magic. Set in Nazi controlled Austria, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic contains such gems as “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Every Mountain,” and “Edelweiss.”

After a week-long virtual Kids Camp and still no live theatre on the horizon, it's clear that our adult community members need some way to keep their skills polished too. That's why we've asked our Kids Camp instructors to come back and share their expertise with a grown-up audience!

See the struggles and horrors of the Holocaust through the eyes of 13-year-old Anne as she navigates the confusing world of adolescence, while hiding in a tiny room with her Jewish family in 1940s Amsterdam during World War II. Based on real diary entries from 1942 to 1945, The Diary of Anne Frank won both the Tony and the Pulitzer the year it opened.

Calling all children, teens, and young adults who are beginners to theatre! Summer Place Theatre is kicking off a virtual summer season with a Zoom kids camp, which will include a variety of engaging and informative classes led by some of the best talents in Naperville.
