Biographies

Marilyn Elizabeth Bielby (Audrey) This is Marilyn's first appearance with The Summer Place. Some of her acting credits include; Naomi, in "Naomi in the Living room"; Bloody Mary in "South Pacific"; Miss Skillon in "See How They Run" and Poppy in "Noises Off", to name a few. She is majoring in acting at the University of Illinois. According to Marilyn, "This is my first attempt at a ditzy blonde, or Ann-Margaret trying to bust out of Ellie Mae Clampett."

Patrick Farbo Jr. (Seymour) Some of Patrick's favorite roles include; the ringmaster in "Barnum", the Wiz in "The Wiz", a brother in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", Rooster in "Annie" and John the Baptist in "Godspell". He is employed in Real Estate management and also belongs to a trio group called "PB&J". Patrick would like to thank Arlene Hawks for the opportunity to play the role that he always dreamed of playing and would also like to thank his friends and family for all of their love and support.

Fred Noonan (Mr. Mushnik) Some of Fred's acting credits include; Scrooge in "Christmas Carol", Dr. Watson in "Curse of the Sign of Four", Lennie in "Of Mice and Men", Cheswick in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". He has directed the following; "Playboy of the Western World", "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?", "Catch Me If You Can", and "Auntie Mame". Fred works in accounts payable at Crescent Counties Foundation for Medical Care and would like to thank his younger brother for all of his support.

Ivan Torres (Orin) Ivan is happy to be back with The Summer Place. His last show here was "Do Black Patent Leather Shows Really Reflect Up?" in the role of Felix. He has also performed in Pheasant Run's original production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" as Gad. Some of his favorite roles are the Lion in "The Wiz", Barnum in "Barnum", Bert Healy in "Annie" and Mr. McAfee in "Bye Bye Birdie". Ivan works as an account executive with First Chicago Bank and would like to thank his "dippy" friends.

Steve Schroeder (Voice of Audrey II, June 16 - 18) This is Steve's Midwest acting debut having only appeared in plays in California. Some of his favorite roles include; Ritchie in "A Chorus Line", Albert Peterson in "Bye Bye Birdie", Foxwell J. Sly in "Sly Fox", Barnett Lloyd in "Crimes of the Heart" and most recently, Miles Gloriosus in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Steve works as an Assistant Professor of Speech and is the head coach of the National Championship Forensics (Speech) Team - College of DuPage. Steve misses his Mom & Dad and wishes they were here!

Don Austin (Bum) Don has performed as Michael in "I Do! I Do!", Harold Hill in "The Music Man", Johnny Cantone in "1940's Radio Hour" and Alan in "Baby". Don is a 6th grade teacher at Thompson Jr. High in Oswego. He is married to Cindy and has two sons Jake 7 and Ryan 5.

Al Hevey (Bum) Al has been a part of The Summer Place for many years. Some of his favorite performances have been in "The Music Man", "Brigadoon", "Peter Pan", "Born Yesterday", "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", "Working", "Rashamon", "Our Town" and "The Fantastiks". Al is retired, so he can do more theatre. Al can also be seen in "Guys & Dolls".

Amie Knighton (Bum) Amie has played the part of a toy soldier in "The Nutcracker", a Potiphar girl in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and Sonia in "Godspell". Amie is a high school student at East Aurora High School. "Hola Chicos!"

Joel Mangers (Bum & Mr. Martini) Joel's theatre experience includes anything associated with Arlene Hawks' Summer Stage. He most recently was in a production of "Baby" and is involved with College Dramatic Interpretation. Joel is a graduate student with a MBA from Aurora University. Joel wishes everyone would "experience life, don't just watch it go by".

Tim Royer (Bum) Tim has performed in "Grease", "Where's Charley", "The Happy Time", "Disasterama", "Baby" to name a few. Tim is employed as a carpenter and can be seen later this summer in "Guys & Dolls".

Pia de los Santos (Bum) Pia has performed in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" as a Poliphar girl in an Honors Performance. She has also appeared in "Godspell", "Where the Sidewalk Ends", "The Insanity of Mary Girard", "The Nutcracker" and "Broadway Ryhythms". She is a high school student at East Aurora High School. "Viva La Drama Nerds!"

Javier Soler (Bum) Javier's acting credit include roles in "Madwoman of Chaillot", "See How They Run", "A gap in Generation", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Godspell", "The Wiz", "Annie" and "Broadway Bound". Javier is a 4th grade teacher at Eli Whitney Elementary School in Chicago and warns people with "Never slap a man who chews tobacco."

Ed Svejda (Bum, Interviewer & Audrey II manipulator) Some of Ed's favorite roles include, Luther Billis in "South Pacific", Riff in "West Side Story", Judas Iscariot in "Jesus Christ Superstar" for the 1994 Illinois All-State Show. Ed is now singing with the varsity Glee Club at Purdue Univ. where he is a electrical engineering student. He is also employed this summer as a lifeguard.

Dan Wolfe (Bum & Mr. Bernstein) Dan has played the part of Orin in another production of "Little Shop of Horrors". Some of his other acting credits include, both Jacob Marley and the spirit of Christmas Future in "A Christmas Carol" and Lenny in "Rumors". He is the winner of the Illinois Thespian Design Lab Scholarship and was named the Most Promising Actor at Bolingbrook High School. Dan is majoring in acting at University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana.

Arlene Hawks (Director) Arlene is thrilled to be directing her second show for The Summer Place. She previously directed "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?" Arlene holds a B.A. in Performance from Adelphi University in New York and an M.A. plus 33 hours in directing from Northern Illinois and Illinois State Universities. For the past 22 years Arlene has directed the drama programs for the Aurora East Side Schools and at Aurora University, North Island Center, Ad Hoc, Marmion and the Paramount Arts Centre. Aside from her professional Broadway Bound touring company, Arlene's biggest enjoyment is gathering friendships from each one of her shows.

Randy Cerqua (Musical Director) Randy has acted as Musical Director for "Pirates of Penzance", "Side By Side By Sondheim", "Evita" all for The Summer Place. He has also worked as the musical Director for Ad Hoc Theatre with their productions of "West Side Story", "A Chorus Line", "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" to name few. Randy is a professional musician and also is employed as a real estate appraiser.

Ken Frykholm (Technical Director & Set Designer) Ken has a M.F.A. from Northern Illinois University and works as a teacher of English, art and theatre at Lockport Twp. High School. This is Ken's 29th production with The Summer Place. He was the scenic designer for the 1995 Illinois High School Theatre Festival's production of "Fiddler on the Roof". His favorite on stage memory was his 1990 wedding held on The Summer Place stage. Ken and his wife Mandy are the proud parents of six month old Autumn Ashley.

Joe Pietrie (Sound & Light Design) Joe has worked with The Summer Place for the past seven seasons. Some of his technical highlights include, "The Music Man" at the Odeum, "Chess" for Marriot Lincolnshire and "Is there Life After High School?" for Tempo Players. Joe was assistant scenic designer for "Fiddler on the Roof" for the Illinois High School Theatre Festival. Joe and his wife Sue have recently been blessed with the birth of their first child, Beverly Suzanne.
