Jason Allen (Prison Guard) As a freshman at Naperville Central, Jason has appeared in several Theatre Central shows including Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, Season’s Greetings, The Crucible, and the 1996 One Acts Festival.

Don Austin (Governor/Innkeeper) Don has previously appeared as Harold Hill in The Music Man, Michael in I Do! I Do!, Johnny Cantone in 1940’s Radio Hour, and William in The Nerd. Don teaches sixth grade at Thompson Junior High in Oswego.

Lisa Baggott-Miller (Housekeeper) Lisa played this part 16 years ago at Elmhurst College with Alan Weiger directing and Steve Zeidler as Quixote. Some of her favorite roles at various other area theatres have been Meg Brockie in Brigadoon, Marian Paroo in The Music Man, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, Abby Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, and Esther in Two By Two. Lisa is a Graphic Designer and Production Art Manager at Rydin Decal in Wood Dale.

Erica Baker (Antonia/Moorish Girl) Erica has performed in several productions at Hinsdale South High School, including The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Oklahoma, Anything Goes, Fiddler on the Roof, and To Kill A Mockingbird. She studied dance for 13 years, and was a three-year company member of the Salt Creek Ballet, appearing in their production of The Nutcracker four years in a row. Erica is a junior at Downers Grove South High School.

Patrick Bell (Muleteer) Pat recently appeared as Peter Van Daan in The Summer Place’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank. He has also had roles as John Proctor in The Crucible, Ernest in Impromptu, Noah Claypole in Oliver!, Sultan of Arabia in The 1001 Tales of the Arabian Nights. Pat is a student at Naperville Central.

Adam Budny (Muleteer) Adam was recently in The Mystery of Edwin Drood at Waubonsie Valley High School, and has also appeared in The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Tied to the Tracks, and The Truth About Cinderella. Adam is happy to be in Man of La Mancha with his brother Matt and his Dad.

Matt Budny (Muleteer Anselmo) Matt is currently seeking a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at St. Mary’s University, Minnesota. He has previously appeared in The Summer Place productions of Guys and Dolls and The Music Man, as well as many shows at Waubonsie Valley High School. Break a leg “Big Daddy” and “Big Bro”.

Roger A. Budny (Manservant/Sancho Panza) Roger has a B.A. in Communication Arts from St. Mary’s College, Winona, MN and attended the University of Washington as a graduate student of Technical Theatre. Roger has designed and executed the scenic design for the past five musicals at Waubonsie Valley High School and several of the school’s dramatic productions. He portrayed Angie the Ox in Summer Place’s production of Guys and Dolls last season.

Brad Cummings (Muleteer) Brad is a student at Illinois State University and has appeared on stage in 16 different roles, including Charles Aarons in Up The Down Staircase and Monsieur Diafoiras in The Imaginery Invalid. He has also performed at Six Flags Great America.

Adam George (Muleteer Pedro) A resident of Downers Grove, Adam has appeared at the Mill Theatre in Elmhurst as Sam Byck in Assassins, Frank Foster in How The Other Half Lives, Weston Hurley in Fifth of July, Father Jack in Dancing at Lughnasa, and Duke Salinas in Comedy of Errors. He has also directed The Gynecologist, wrote Bartletts and wrote and directed Something Green at the Mill Theatre. He is the technical director for The Brimstone Theatre Company of Berwyn and hopes to enter graduate study in directing next year.

Christopher Hickman (Muleteer) Chris has appeared in many community theatre performances, including Playboy of the Western World, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Importance of Being Earnest, Fiddler on the Roof, Assassins, Jesus Christ Superstar, Farewell Crystal Dunsaman, and Cabaret.

Shannon Juzwiak (Fermina) Shannon is excited to partake in Summer Place’s 30th season. Most recently Shannon assisted Doc Shanower with Guys and Dolls last season. She enjoys directing and choreographing children’s theatre for park districts and high schools. Her favorite roles include Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense, Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, and Mae Peterson in Bye, Bye, Birdie.

Andrew Lambertson (Padre) Andy most recently appeared at Tempo Players as Shem, Noah’s oldest son, in Two By Two. He has appeared in two prior Summer Place shows as Nicely, Nicely in Guys and Dolls and as Peter in Jesus Christ Superstar. He has also been featured in the Tempo Players Annie as Bert Healey, Godspell, singing “All Good Gifts”, Sunday in the Park with George as Franz/Dennis and as Herman in The Most Happy Fella. Andy serves on the Board of Directors of Summer Place and is its representative to Season of Concern. He is an attorney in practice with Dommermuth, Brestal, Cobine and West, Ltd. of Naperville.

Ryan McGrath (Muleteer) Ryan has most recently been seen in Annie as Oliver Warbucks. Other roles have been Danny Zuko and Kenickie in Grease, the Minstrel in Once Upon a Mattress, Rooster in Annie and the Prince in Cinderella. He has performed in The Liverpool Oratorio at Ravinia and has sung at Orchestra Hall. Ryan will be a senior at Benet Academy.

Terrence McLaughlin (The Duke/Dr. Carrasco) Terry most recently played Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods at Illinois Theater Center. Other roles include Magaldi in Evita at Pheasant Run, Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar with Summer Place, and Ernst Ludwig in Cabaret with Circle Theater. Terry has an M.A. in Communication Studies from NIU.

Candice Michel (Maria/Innkeeper’s Wife) Candice’s previous roles include Nancy in Oliver! and Abigail in The Crucible (Pittsburgh), Antigone in Antigone (Hawaii), Aurelia in Madwoman of Chaillot and Sara in JB (San Diego), Mrs. Frank in Summer Place’s The Diary of Anne Frank, and Marion in Dead on Nine for Wheaton Drama.

Katherine Parker (Female Chorus) Katherine was most recently seen as Miep in The Diary of Anne Frank with Summer Place. Other credits include The Hobbit, Playing for Time, The Good Doctor and Inspecting Carol.

Lucia Anamarie Spina (Aldonza/Dulcinea) Lucia is very excited to be making her Summer Place debut. Previous roles include Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Ann Putnam in The Crucible, and Alice in Wonderland at North Central College. She also appeared in Tempo Players’ Godspell and Annie. Aside from musical theatre, Lucia is also involved in several choral groups at NCC as well as being the vocalist for the Midnight Blues Jazz Ensemble. She will graduate next June with a B.A. in Theatre and a music minor.

Tom Ulbrich (Captain of the Inquisition) This marks Tom’s fourth appearance with The Summer Place. Last year Tom appeared as Count Dracula. Previously, he has been seen as Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar and as Lloyd Dallas in Noises Off. Tom is Director of Theatre at Naperville Central High School.

Kristina Wilson (Female Chorus) Kristina has performed in An Irving Berlin Review and A Grand Night for Singing. She is an accomplished French Hornist and Percussionist. She has appeared in the Downers Grove South theatrical show Sven Babuta. Kristina was recently accepted in Westminster College’s musical theater summer program and is currently studying ballet at the Midwest Ballet Academy.

Dave Zahalka (Barber) Dave has previously appeared in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as Gatch/Toynbee, in Annie Get Your Gun as Mac, and in Fiddler on the Roof as a Jewish Father.

Steven Zeidler (Miguel de Cervantes/Don Quixote) Previous roles for Steve include Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Mr. Webb in Our Town, Cecco in Peter Pan, Miles Gloriosus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Squire Hardcastle in She Stoops to Conquer, Gamemaster in Adaptation, Fred/Petruchio in Kiss Me Kate, Rusty Charlie in Guys and Dolls, Angus MacGuffie in Brigadoon, Charles the Great in Pippin, Winton in Take Me Along, Lancelot in Camelot, The Wazir of Police in Kismet, and Germont in La Traviata.

Alan W. Weiger (Director) Alan has been Director of Theatre at Elmhurst College from 1977 to the present, where he has directed and/or designed over 60 productions. At Elmhurst Community Theatre, he has directed Guys and Dolls, Brigadoon, Take Me Along, Fiddler on the Roof and Oklahoma. Alan directed A Little Night Music at The Summer Place in 1987. He is a Professor in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Elmhurst College, where he teaches courses in Acting, Directing, Stagecraft, Theatre History and Oral Interpretation. Alan has an M.A. in Theatre from NIU and is a Ph.D. candidate at Loyola University of Chicago.

Kay Oliver (Assistant Director/Stage Manager) Man of La Mancha is Kay’s first production with The Summer Place. She has been involved with over twenty productions since 1981 doing everything from sweeping the stage to directing. She thanks Summer Place for welcoming her and the opportunity to work with a great cast and crew.

Ted Waltmire (Musical Director/Vocal Coach) Ted has appeared on stage at Summer Place in Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, God’s Favorite and Kismet. He has been Summer Place’s Musical Director for The Fantastiks, A Little Night Music, and The Music Man. At Elmhurst College, he was Musical Director for Baby, Working, Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, Guys and Dolls and Assassins.

Natalie Weiger (Choreographer) Natalie has been the Choreographer for Elmhurst College’s Assassins, Guys and Dolls, Into the Woods, Working, Little Shop of Horrors, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, Chicago and Baby. At the Summer Place, Natalie assisted on Choreography for A Little Night Music. She has also appeared on stage in Mousetrap, Up the Down Staircase and Lovers.

Ken Frykholm (Technical Director and Set Designer) This marks Ken’s tenth year as technical director/set designer for the Summer Place. He has an M.F.A. from NIU and works as a teacher of English, Art and Theatre at Lockport Township High School. This is Ken’s 32nd production with The Summer Place. His favorite on-stage memory was his 1990 wedding held on The Summer Place stage. Ken and his wife Mandy are the proud parents of eighteen-month old Autumn Ashley.

Joe Pietrie (Light Designer) Joe has been a light designer for The Summer Place for the past eight years, the last four of which he has also contributed greatly in the technical end. He is employed as the Auditorium Manager for NCHS where he has helped stage The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, which was one of six shows to be selected to the Illinois High School Theatre Festival at ISU. Other 200+ shows include Sunday in the Park with George for Tempo Players, Chess at Marriot Lincolnshire and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice for The Magical Starlight Theatre. Joe still owes all his strength to his wife Susan and daughter Beverly.

Amber Olvera (Sound Designer) This is Amber’s fourth season with The Summer Place. A recent graduate of NCHS, Amber has participated in over 50 productions and plans to pursue a career in technical theatre. Some of her highlights include: sound for the Illinois All-State production of The Fiddler on the Roof, Stage Manager and Light Design for The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and Noises Off, her first Summer Place production.
